Apr 21, 2017 · Empirically, neural networks that attempt to learn programs from data have exhibited poor generalizability. Moreover, it has traditionally been difficult to reason about the behavior of these models beyond a certain level of input complexity. In order to address these issues, we propose augmenting neural architectures with a key abstraction: recursion. As an application, we implement recursion. Recent research shows that some brain areas perform more than one task and the switching times between them are incompatible with learning and that parts of the brain are controlled by other parts of the brain, or are “recycled”, or are used and reused for various purposes by other neural circuits in different task categories and cognitive domains.

Jul 19, 2020 · Neurological Sciences is intended to provide a medium for the communication of results and ideas in the field of neuroscience. The journal welcomes contributions in both the basic and clinical aspects of the neurosciences. How specific visual dream contents are represented by brain activity is unclear. Machine-learning–based analyses can decode the stimulus- and task-induced brain activity patterns that represent specific visual contents. Horikawa et al. p. [639][1], published online 4 April examined patterns of brain activity during dreaming and compared these to waking responses to visual stimuli. Nov 10, 2017 · Fly brain inspires computing algorithm. Flies use an algorithmic neuronal strategy to sense and categorize odors. Dasgupta et al. applied insights from the fly system to come up with a solution to a computer science problem. On the basis of the algorithm that flies use to tag an odor and categorize similar ones, the authors generated a new solution to the nearest-neighbor search problem.

The planarian is the simplest living animal having a body plan of bilateral symmetry and cephalization. The brain of these free-living flatworms is a biiobed structure with a cortex of nerve cells and a core of nerve fibres including some that decussate to form commissures. J. Neural science NS is a collection of disciplines unified by a concern for the function of the brain. Experimental approaches in neural science vary from analyses of molecular and cellular mechanisms in nerve cells and groups of nerve cells to behavioral and psychological studies of whole organisms. inspired systems is as old as computer science and computer engineering itself, with both von Neumann [3] and Turing [4] discussing brain-inspired machines in the 1950’s. Computer scientists have long wanted to replicate biological neural Fig. 2. Neuromorphic and neural network hardware works over time. systems in computers. Walking is the original form of transportation, and pedestrians have always made up a significant share of transportation system users. In contrast to motorized traffic, which has to move on precisely defined lanes and follow strict rules, pedestrian traffic is not heavily regulated. Moreover, pedestrians have specific characteristics—in terms of size and protection—which make them.

We previously showed that the growth ability of the Japanese encephalitis virus JEV genotype V GV strain Muar is clearly lower than that of the genotype I GI JEV strain Mie/41/2002 in murine neuroblastoma cells. Here, we sought to identify the region in GV JEV that is involved in its low growth potential in cultured cells. An intertypic virus containing the NS1-3 region of Muar in the.

Though the seasonal response of organisms to changing day lengths is a phenomenon that has been scientifically reported for nearly a century, significant questions remain about how photoperiod is encoded and effected neurobiologically. In mammals, early work identified the master circadian clock, the suprachiasmatic nuclei SCN, as a tentative encoder of photoperiodic information. Neuro-linguistic programming NLP is a pseudoscientific approach to communication, personal development, and psychotherapy created by Richard Bandler and John Grinder in California, United States, in the 1970s.NLP's creators claim there is a connection between neurological processes neuro-, language linguistic and behavioral patterns learned through experience programming, and that. From its institution as the Neural Networks Council in the early 1990s, the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society has rapidly grown into a robust community with a vision for addressing real-world issues with biologically-motivated computational paradigms. The Society offers leading research in nature-inspired problem solving, including neural networks, evolutionary algorithms, fuzzy systems. The grounding model proposed here is the following: Analog sensory projections are the inputs to neural nets that must learn to connect some of the projections with some symbols their category names and some of them with other symbols the names of other interconfusable categories by finding and using the invariant features in them that will subserve correct categorization performance. Jan 29, 2013 · Deep brain stimulation DBS is a surgical therapy that involves the delivery of an electrical current to one or more brain targets. This technology has been rapidly expanding to address movement, neuropsychiatric, and other disorders. The evolution of DBS has created a niche for neurologists, both in the operating room and in the clinic.
